Introducing solid foods to your baby is a significant milestone in their development. When it comes to weaning, it's essential to provide your baby with a variety of healthy and nutritious options. Why Make Your Own Baby Pasta Sauce?

When it comes to feeding your baby, it's always best to ensure that they are getting the most nutritious foods possible. By making your own baby pasta sauce, you can control the ingredients and ensure that your baby is getting the best possible food.

While there are many ready-made baby pasta sauces available in the market, many of these sauces contain added sugars, salt, and preservatives that are not suitable for your baby's delicate digestive system. By making your own sauce, you can avoid these additives and make a sauce that is tailored to your baby's needs.

  • 12 medium-sized tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 red pepper, stalk removed, de-seeded and roughly chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 large (or 2 smaller) courgettes, topped and tailed and thickly sliced
  • 1 red onion, peeled and cut into 1/8ths
  • 3 carrots, peeled and grated
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp and 1 tsp olive oil

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan-assisted).
  2. Place the tomatoes, red pepper, courgette, and red onion in a deep baking tray.
  3. Sprinkle over the herbs and add the tablespoon of olive oil. Mix well.
  4. Cook for around 20 minutes or until soft and tender.
  5. Meanwhile, heat the remaining olive oil in a pan and gently fry the grated  carrots on a medium heat for 5-6 minutes. Set aside.
  6. Combine all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  7. Stir the sauce into cooked pasta (fusilli works best as the sauce clings so well to it).
  8. Any leftover sauce can be frozen (try freezing in ice cube trays for perfect baby-sized portions).
